Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Santosh Kumar Singh in Munger, Bihar. The officer was attacked while attempting to resolve a dispute in Nandalpur village and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Patna.

Bihar Police Association President Mrityunjay Kumar Singh condemned the attack and demanded compensation for the bereaved family, as well as a job for one of the family members. He emphasized the need for police personnel to be supported rather than attacked, highlighting the personal cost of such violence on officers’ families.

Munger Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Imran Masood confirmed that ASI Singh was fatally injured when he attempted to intervene in a ruckus caused by a family under the influence of alcohol. The assailants, who have since fled, struck Singh on the head, leaving him critically injured. Despite efforts to save him, Singh passed away at Patna Paras Hospital.

Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack. SP Masood assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible.

This incident follows another attack on police personnel in Araria earlier in March, underscoring growing concerns over the safety of law enforcement officers in the state.
