As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prepares to swear in its new government in Delhi, BJP MLA Kapil Mishra expressed confidence in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the national capital. Mishra, who is set to be sworn in as a minister under Chief Minister-designate Rekha Gupta, visited the Jhandewalan Temple to mark the occasion.

“It is a historic day. Under the leadership of Rekha Ji, a new BJP government is being formed, and together, we will implement the Prime Minister’s vision for Delhi. I have not come here to ask for anything; I am here to express my gratitude,” Mishra said.

Mishra also took the opportunity to criticize Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing them of deceiving the people of Delhi. He stated that the people had “punished” Kejriwal through the election results. “There will be an investigation into the corruption of AAP and Arvind Kejriwal. The people have spoken, and soon, the courts will also deliver their verdict. Now, Delhi has a government that fulfills its promises, and with this resolve, we begin today,” Mishra added.

Priti Mishra, the wife of BJP leader Kapil Mishra, expressed pride and gratitude, thanking Prime Minister Modi for including her husband in the Delhi Cabinet. “I feel so proud. I express gratitude to PM Modi for including him in the team (Council of Ministers). Whatever is needed for the development of Delhi will be done… This is all happening with the blessings of the Almighty,” she said.

Rekha Gupta, along with six other ministers—Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh—will take the oath at the upcoming ceremony.

Mishra, who triumphed in the recent Delhi Assembly elections by defeating AAP’s Manoj Tyagi from the Karawal Nagar seat with a margin of over 23,000 votes, will play a key role in the new government.

Rekha Gupta, the newly-designated Chief Minister, will become the fourth woman to hold the office in Delhi. The city has had female Chief Ministers from the BJP, Congress, and AAP. She succeeds Atishi in the role.

Gupta, an elected MLA from Shalimar Bagh, has previously served as the general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi and as a member of its national executive committee. She has been actively involved in numerous campaigns focusing on the welfare of marginalized communities and women.

The BJP is returning to power in Delhi after a 27-year gap, having won 48 out of 70 seats in the assembly elections, while AAP secured only 22. Congress was unable to win a single seat for the third consecutive time.
