A massive fire broke out in a diesel-laden goods train near Tiruvallur Railway Station on Sunday morning, prompting the Southern Railway to issue emergency helpline numbers and temporarily suspend several train services in the region.
According to railway officials, the fire affected the last three wagons of the train, causing major operational disruptions. As a precaution, overhead power lines were switched off, and all EMU local train services on the ChennaiโArakkonam section were suspended.
Visuals from the site showed thick black smoke and flames engulfing the freight train, prompting a swift response from fire and rescue teams, who are still working to extinguish the blaze.
