RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday sharply criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Yadav accused Kumar of failing to address rising crimes, jail torture, and widespread criminal activity, and of shielding criminals under his leadership.
Yadav pointed out that lawlessness had spiraled out of control under Nitish Kumar’s administration. “You must have observed that law and order in Bihar have completely collapsed. Criminals have become uncontrollable and are not just active at night,” Yadav said, citing incidents such as bomb blasts at major stores like Tanishq, where robberies amounting to 25 crore rupees have taken place multiple times.
The RJD leader also highlighted growing insecurity in schools, particularly in Bhojpur and Hajipur, where bombs were reportedly planted. “In Bhojpur and Hajipur, bombs are being planted in schools. There is not a single day when more than 200 bullets are fired in Bihar. Crimes like abductions and robberies are happening,” he noted.
Yadav further expressed outrage over a recent horrific case in Nalanda, the Chief Minister’s home district, where a girl was tortured with nails driven into her feet. “In CM Nitish’s home district, Nalanda, a girl was tortured inhumanely and thrown into the fields. The government is silent and sitting idly,” Yadav said, accusing the state government of turning a blind eye to the suffering of its citizens.
Referring to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Yadav emphasized that crime rates in Bihar had been steadily rising, and slammed the state government for its inaction on jail torture cases, where inmates have reportedly died due to mistreatment. “In several districts, people have died due to torture in jails. No action is being taken by this government,” Yadav stated.
Yadav accused Nitish Kumar of protecting criminals, claiming that many criminals had been released under his leadership, and that laws were being amended to favor them. “Nitish Kumar has become the protector of criminals. The law is being changed to benefit them,” Yadav said.
The RJD leader also criticized the Bihar police, asserting that despite arrests, criminals rarely face convictions. “The police can’t even secure convictions. The criminals come out because no one can gather evidence. This is a total failure of the system,” Yadav declared.
Frustrated by the ongoing situation, Yadav remarked that despite over two decades of Nitish Kumar’s leadership, the Chief Minister appeared to be in denial about the real issues facing the state. “The home ministry has been with Nitish Kumar for the past 20 years. He seems oblivious to the ground reality,” Yadav concluded, accusing the Chief Minister of surrendering to criminal elements.
