RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that he failed to provide factual clarity during his recent press conference and instead echoed the Prime Minister’s Office.

“He has not yet given any clear answer with facts. Tell us why people who are alive were declared dead. There are thousands of such examples we can show. He has just read out what came from the PMO. If he has taken BJP membership, then he should openly admit it,” Tejashwi told ANI.

The remarks came after CEC Kumar refuted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of ‘vote theft’ and asked him to submit an affidavit within seven days.

Backing the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, Tejashwi said people were realising how the BJP allegedly influenced the Election Commission. “The Yatra is getting immense love and support. People now understand how the BJP first captured the Election Commission and is now stealing votes,” he claimed.

He further asserted that Bihar would resist any attempt to weaken democracy. “Democracy will not be allowed to perish from Bihar, the land where it was born. This Yatra is going to be historic,” he added.

The 16-day Voter Adhikar Yatra began on Sunday from Sasaram, covering over 1,300 km across more than 20 districts before concluding in Patna on September 1. The second day ended with a rally in Gaya, while the third day will proceed from Nawada to Bar Bigha via Nalanda.
