Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has ordered a detailed inquiry into the alleged stabbing attack on an on-duty doctor in Chennai by the family member of a patient.
The incident happened in Kalaignar Centenary Multy speciality government hospital in Chennai, where a doctor named Balaji was attacked by a patient’s relative.
The victim doctor has sustained stab injuries and has been admitted at the ICU.
The accused has been nabbed by the Guindy Police.
Taking to social media X, CM Stalin stated, “Shocking incident where doctor working at Kindi Kalyan Centenary Hospital Mr Balaji was stabbed by a family member of the patient.”
“The person involved in this atrocity was immediately arrested. Doctor Mr. I have ordered Balaji to give them all the necessary treatment and to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident,” he added.
The Chief Minister further said that the ‘selfless’ work of government is “immeasurable” and they should be ensured all safety. He added that the state government will take all measures to prevent such incidents.
“The selfless work of our government doctors is immeasurable in providing appropriate treatment to the patients who seek government hospitals regardless of time. It is our duty to ensure their safety during this work,” Stalin said.
“The government will take all measures to prevent such incidents from happening in the future,” he added.
Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin and Health Minister MA Subramanian also visited the hospital, where the incident happened.
