Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday hoisted the national flag at his residence in Bhopal as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign ahead of Independence Day.
Calling the Tiranga a symbol of national pride, Chouhan urged citizens to display it at their homes. “The Indian flag is our country’s pride. Lakhs of people sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Let us celebrate the day with fervour. I have hoisted the tricolour at my residence with my family, and I appeal to everyone to do the same,” he said, reciting the patriotic lines, “Jhanda ucha rahe humara, vijay vishwa tiranga pyara, iski shaan na jaane paye, chahiye jaan bhale hi jaye.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also participated in the campaign, hoisting the national flag alongside his wife Sonal Shah at their Delhi residence. Visuals showed the couple raising a large Tiranga atop their terrace.
The Union Ministry of Culture recently announced the fourth edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative, part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The campaign encourages citizens to bring the national flag into their homes as a mark of respect and unity. According to the Ministry, over five lakh young people have registered for this year’s edition.
Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat described the initiative as “an emotional movement” that unites 1.4 billion Indians under the timeless colours of the Tiranga, fostering patriotism, civic pride, and awareness about its significance as a living emblem of democracy and independence.
