Security has been heightened outside the Samajwadi Party (SP) office and the residence of party leader Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow on Saturday, amid concerns that SP workers might stage protests following the “detention” of party leader Manish Jagan Agarwal.

Agarwal, who serves as the president of the SP’s Vyapar Sabha, was reportedly detained by the authorities. In response, police from several stations have been deployed around the SP office, and barricades have been set up to maintain order.

Akhilesh Yadav is scheduled to hold a press conference later in the afternoon, and police sources have indicated that they anticipate potential protests from party workers either before or after the conference.

In an X post, the Samajwadi Party alleged that Lucknow Police forcibly removed Agarwal from his residence. The party warned that if Agarwal or his family members were harmed, the responsibility would lie with the Lucknow Police.
