Joint security operations continued in full swing on Tuesday in the Lasana area of Surankote in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, following contact with terrorists on Monday night. The Indian Army, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, has deployed additional troops to prevent any escape attempts by the militants.
The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the developments in a post on X, stating, “Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with J&K Police at Lasana, Surankote, last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping.”
The Romeo Force of the Army is leading the operation on the ground. During the exchange of fire, one security personnel was injured near Lasana village, situated along the key highway connecting Poonch to Jammu.
In response, the area was immediately cordoned off and placed under high alert. Early visuals from the site showed Army personnel conducting strict vehicle checks with support from dog squads, as search efforts intensified.
This development comes amid heightened counter-terror activity in Jammu and Kashmir. On Sunday, three terrorists were gunned down in Kishtwar, and security forces recovered a cache of weapons including an M4 rifle, two AK-47s, 11 magazines, and over 120 rounds of ammunition. First-aid supplies and Pakistani-marked medicines were also seized, with official communication sent to Pakistan regarding the recovered items.
Reaffirming their resolve, the Indian Army has declared that operations will continue until terrorism is rooted out. Director General of the Kishtwar-Doda-Ramban range, Shridhar Patil, stated, “Until terrorists are eliminated, the operations will go on. The people of the area have given full support to security forces.”
Security remains tight across the region as joint forces remain on high alert to ensure no terrorist manages to escape the ongoing crackdown.
