“Safety a Myth Under BJP Rule”: Congress Slams NDA Govt Over Patna Businessman’s Murder

Congress leader Pawan Khera launched a scathing attack on the NDA government in Bihar, accusing it of allowing lawlessness to thrive under the guise of development, days after prominent businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead near his residence in Patna’s upscale Gandhi Maidan area.

Taking to social media, Khera wrote, “The BJP’s governance model is Goonda Raj wrapped in a velvet glove of PR about ‘development’. All optics, no order.”

Citing official statistics, Khera alleged that 65,000 murders have taken place under the NDA’s rule in Bihar. He mocked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, calling him the “Chief Spectator” of a “daily carnage” rather than an active guardian of public safety.

“With the killing of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna’s posh Gandhi Maidan area, it’s clear that under BJP rule, safety is a myth. No amount of money, influence, or power can ensure your safety,” he added, accusing the BJP of devaluing human life in pursuit of fake headlines.

The killing has triggered a political firestorm, especially with the Bihar Assembly elections around the corner.

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also slammed the NDA regime, claiming Bihar has now become the “crime capital” of India.

In a Hindi post on X, he wrote: “The murder of Gopal Khemka has once again shown that BJP and Nitish Kumar have turned Bihar into India’s crime capital. Loot, gunfire, and murder have become the new normal. The government is completely ineffective.”

Gandhi urged voters to choose change: “A government that cannot protect your children cannot shape your future. This is not just about changing the government — it’s about saving Bihar.”

In response to mounting pressure, the Bihar Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder of Gopal Khemka, who was shot dead in broad daylight on Friday.

The incident has sparked deep concerns over public safety and the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, with opposition leaders calling it a symptom of systematic governance failure.
