Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, continued their ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ on Sunday, entering its eighth day with a motorcycle rally in Bihar’s Purnea district.

The yatra, launched by Opposition parties against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, aims to mobilise voters across the state. On Sunday, the march passed through Panchmukhi Mandir, Forbesganj Road, Hope Hospital Chowk, Rambagh, Kasba Bazaar, and Zero Mile before proceeding towards Araria, where Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, CPI(ML) Liberation leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, and VIP founder Mukesh Sahani were scheduled to address a press conference.

A day earlier in Katihar, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of “manipulating institutions and media to silence the poor.” He raised the slogan “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhodd” (Vote thief, leave power), telling supporters that mainstream media deliberately ignores the voices of labourers, farmers, and the underprivileged.

Tejashwi Yadav, addressing the same gathering, attacked the BJP-led Centre over corruption, alleging that officials had collected ₹4,000 crore through caste and residential certificates. “This money will be used by the BJP in elections. That is why corruption is continuously increasing,” he said, promising a corruption-free and crime-free government if voted to power.

The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ spans 1,300 km across 20 districts over 16 days and will culminate in Patna on September 1. Bihar Assembly elections are due later this year, though the Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the official schedule.
