Punjab Police successfully dismantled a terror module near Amritsar Airport on Sunday night, arresting three individuals and recovering a significant cache of weapons. The police seized an AK-47, several rounds of ammunition, and two pistols—one 0.3 bore and one 0.32 bore, along with cartridges.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Lovepreet, Karandeep, and Buta Singh, all residents of Amritsar Rural. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar announced the breakthrough, stating, “This is a major success for the Amritsar Police Commissionerate. We have busted a terror module and arrested three individuals, recovering weapons and ammunition in the process.”

Bhullar further revealed that Buta Singh is believed to be the mastermind behind the network. “The accused were involved in this operation after being lured by financial incentives. They received the arms and ammunition from external sources,” he explained.

The investigation is now focusing on tracing the weapons and understanding how the accused obtained them. Authorities are also examining the wider network of financiers, suppliers, and possible drone involvement.

In a tense moment during the operation, one of the arrested individuals attempted to fire at a police ASI while being escorted. A confrontation ensued, with the police team, including SHO Sadar, retaliating. Lovepreet and Buta Singh sustained injuries during the exchange.

This operation follows a similar arrest on January 30, when Punjab Police arrested two operatives, Robinjeet Singh and Harpreet Singh, after a brief firefight. The police recovered two grenades, a pistol, and live cartridges. According to the Director General of Police (DGP), the operatives were linked to the Satta Naushehra Gang, with connections to overseas-based terrorists.

DGP Punjab shared details on social media, stating: “Acting swiftly on secret information, two operatives, Robinjeet Singh and Harpreet Singh, associated with USA-based Gurdev Singh and Canada-based Lakhbir, were apprehended after an exchange of fire, with two grenades and one pistol recovered.”
