Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday slammed the Opposition MPs’ protest over the Adani issue in Parliament and termed it a “political drama”.
“It would have been better if the people who call themselves as LoP would have done ‘Parikrama’ of Ram Janmabhoomi temple… Those who are doing political drama here, it would have been better if they had gone and sat at Rajghat,” he said.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also slammed the opposition parties alleging that they were creating a dram outside the House by running around.
“I am very distressed by the behaviour of the opposition parties since the beginning of the Winter Session today. When the Winter Session has begun and we have always taken decisions on important subjects like bills and discussion on the Constitution in the Business Advisory Committee, why is there protest by the Congress Party and their allies? Why are they disrupting the proceedings of the House and creating drama outside the Parliament House by running around? Is this the way to run the House? The Parliament House is for debate and discussion and they are running around the Parliament House wearing colourful clothes,” he said.
“Today some of our MPs raised a very important issue about some conspiracies hatched by some groups outside India and attacking the interests of sovereignty, unity and integrity of India and these are very serious matters. And these people are talking about some other issues which have nothing to do with the Government of India and they are running around the Parliament premises raising issues…I am very upset with opposition parties,” Rijiju added.
Opposition MPs, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi, protested over the Adani matter, at the Parliament premises in the national capital.
Opposition MPs wore jackets symbolising their protest over the Adani issue and wore jackets mentioned: “Modi Adani Ek Hai, Adani safe hai.”
Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi attacked the Union government over the issue of US prosecutors linking Gautam Adani to an alleged bribery case, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot get Adani investigated because if he does that, he would be getting himself investigated.
“Modi ji can’t get Adani ji investigated because if he does that, he would be getting himself investigated…Modi aur Adani ek hain. Do nahi hain, ek hain,” said Rahul Gandhi as he joined Opposition MPs in protest over the Adani matter.
Parliament proceedings have been stalled since the beginning of the Winter Session amid protests by opposition parties over the Adani issue and violence in Manipur and Sambhal.
Both houses faced brief sessions in the past week following a ruckus amid the opposition’s demand to discuss Adani indictment.
The first session of the winter Parliament commenced on November 25, with both Houses getting adjourned fairly early due to disruptions. The winter session will go on till December 20.
The Adani Group has denied the allegations made by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against directors of Adani Green. While the BJP said the law will take its course and slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
