Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday underscored the importance of empowering women in driving the growth of rural India, stating that his government has consistently prioritized women’s rights and opportunities. Speaking in Navsari, Gujarat, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, PM Modi launched several initiatives, including G-SAFAL and G-MAITRI, and highlighted the increasing participation of women in leadership roles across the country since 2014.
Reflecting on a historic milestone, PM Modi said, “When the country got its new Parliament, the first bill passed was related to ‘Nari Shakti.’ What makes it even more empowering is that this bill was signed by our President, a woman from a tribal background. Mahatma Gandhi used to say the soul of India lives in rural India. I believe the soul of rural India lies in the empowerment of rural women. That’s why our government has given top priority to women’s rights and new opportunities for them.”
He celebrated the growing presence of women in diverse sectors. “Whether it’s politics, sports, judiciary, or the police, women are excelling everywhere. Since 2014, the number of women in key positions has increased rapidly — from the highest number of women ministers in the central government to a greater representation in Parliament,” he noted.
Highlighting the event’s organization in Navsari, PM Modi praised the all-women security team managing the gathering. “This event itself is a powerful example of women’s strength. The entire security — from constables to SPs, DSPs, and senior officers — is being handled by women. This reflects the incredible power and capability of women,” he said.
PM Modi concluded by reaffirming his belief that women will play a crucial role in building a developed India. “When I see the energy and dedication of women, my confidence in India’s future strengthens. Women’s power will be the driving force behind fulfilling our vision of a Viksit Bharat,” he stated.
