Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to co-chair the upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit alongside French President Emmanuel Macron on February 11 in Paris, according to diplomatic sources. The summit, part of the Paris Peace Forum, will bring together global leaders, including US Vice President JD Vance and China’s Vice Prime Minister Ding Xuexiang, to discuss a sustainable, ethical, and inclusive approach to AI development and deployment.
PM Modi’s participation underscores India’s growing role in shaping the global AI landscape. The summit is expected to focus on advancing AI technologies while ensuring they benefit all of humanity, aligning with India’s ongoing efforts to develop its own AI programs.
In addition to the AI Summit, PM Modi’s visit will feature significant diplomatic engagements. He will meet with top CEOs of French companies to explore collaboration opportunities in sectors like aerospace, engines, and submarines. These discussions are expected to foster closer ties between India and France, with advanced talks on civil nuclear energy and reactors potentially leading to announcements during the visit.
On February 12, PM Modi will hold a bilateral discussion with President Macron in Marseille, further strengthening India-France relations. In a significant development, India is set to open a new Consulate in Marseille, enhancing its diplomatic presence in Southern France and bolstering trade, cultural, and people-to-people connections.
The AI Action Summit is set to take place at the Grand Palais in Paris on February 10-11, with leaders from various sectors, including government, business, academia, and civil society, gathering to deliberate on the future of artificial intelligence.
Earlier, on January 31, the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed that French President Macron had invited PM Modi to the summit, and India had accepted the invitation. President Macron had previously announced during a speech on January 11 that PM Modi’s visit to France would include participation in the AI Summit, further underscoring the growing partnership between the two nations.
This visit marks another milestone in strengthening the strategic relationship between India and France, particularly in technological and economic sectors.
