Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday accused the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of creating an era of lawlessness, corruption, and insecurity in Bihar, saying women were the worst sufferers during its rule.

Speaking at the launch of Bihar’s Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, PM Modi contrasted the RJD years with the present governance under the NDA, describing it as a period of law, order, and empowerment.

“When the RJD government was in Bihar, women suffered the most from lawlessness and corruption. In those days, broken roads and lack of bridges meant pregnant women couldn’t reach hospitals on time. Our government has worked to change that—today, new roads and infrastructure are pulling Bihar out of that dark past,” PM Modi said.

He further recalled the fear of Naxalite violence and atrocities under RJD, stressing that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar restored rule of law, giving women the confidence to step out freely. “From poor families to doctors and IAS officers, no one was spared then. Today, Bihar’s daughters can walk without fear,” he added.

Taking a swipe at Congress, PM Modi referred to Rajiv Gandhi’s famous remark about only 15 paise out of a rupee reaching the people. “Earlier, funds meant for the poor were looted midway. Today, every rupee is directly reaching your bank account,” he said.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi transferred ₹10,000 each into the accounts of 75 lakh women across Bihar under the new employment scheme, totaling ₹7,500 crore, aimed at boosting women’s self-reliance and economic independence.
