Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the opposition parties in Bihar on Friday, accusing the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of fostering corruption, lawlessness, and neglecting the state’s development for decades. Addressing a large public rally in Siwan, the Prime Minister said their governance model was rooted in dynastic politics and self-interest.
“RJD and Congress are anti-Bihar and anti-investment. They can never win the hearts of the people of Bihar,” Modi declared, adding that their only guiding principle has been “Parivaar ka sath, parivaar ka vikas” (Support for the family, development for the family).
He accused the opposition of damaging Bihar’s self-respect, stating, “My Bihari brothers and sisters never compromise on their dignity. But those with the ‘Panja’ (Congress symbol) and ‘lantern’ (RJD symbol) have consistently undermined it.”
In a broader attack on the INDIA bloc, PM Modi urged voters to stay vigilant against those “ready to put brakes on Bihar’s progress,” and pledged that under NDA, Bihar would emerge as a manufacturing and economic hub under the “Make in India” vision.
Highlighting NDA’s achievements, Modi cited key metrics: over 1.5 crore houses electrified, another 1.5 crore provided with tap water, and more than 45,000 Common Service Centres opened. He added that 55,000 km of rural roads have been constructed in Bihar in the last decade alone.
Referring to his recent international engagements, the Prime Minister said global leaders were optimistic about India becoming the third-largest economy — a transformation in which Bihar would play a “big role.”
Reflecting on Bihar’s transformation, PM Modi praised the state’s progress in overcoming “jungle raj” and lawlessness. “Our youth today only hear of Bihar’s dark past in stories. The NDA has changed that reality.”
He concluded by underscoring the symbolic significance of Siwan and Bihar in India’s development journey: “The NDA government is working in the spirit of national icons like Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Brajkishore Prasad. Today’s inauguration and foundation laying of projects worth thousands of crores is a reflection of that commitment.”
