PM Modi Reviews National Security Preparedness in High-Level Meeting with Top Bureaucrats

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with Secretaries from key Ministries and Departments of the Government of India to assess national security preparedness and inter-ministerial coordination amid evolving regional challenges.

In light of recent developments, PM Modi underscored the importance of seamless coordination among various ministries and agencies to maintain operational continuity and ensure institutional resilience. He directed Secretaries to conduct a comprehensive review of their respective ministries’ functioning, placing special emphasis on emergency readiness, internal communication protocols, and the uninterrupted operation of critical systems.

Secretaries presented their strategies based on a Whole-of-Government approach, highlighting actionable measures tailored to the ongoing national situation. Ministries reported that they are actively enhancing response mechanisms and are fully prepared to handle emerging scenarios.

The meeting also focused on bolstering civil defence infrastructure, countering the spread of misinformation and fake news, and ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure. Ministries were instructed to closely coordinate with state governments and local institutions to ensure robust implementation on the ground.

Among those in attendance were the Cabinet Secretary, senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, and Secretaries from the Ministries of Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Power, Health, and Telecommunications.

PM Modi concluded the session by stressing the importance of continued vigilance, clear communication, and institutional synergy as India navigates a sensitive period. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to national security, citizen safety, and operational preparedness.
