Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called for a significant boost to indigenous production across sectors, emphasizing the government’s support for businesses and the vision of a self-reliant India.
Inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show-2025 (UPITS-2025), PM Modi highlighted reforms to ease business operations, including the abolition of over 40,000 compliances and decriminalization of more than 1,000 laws.
“The government is putting a strong emphasis on Make in India manufacturing. We want everything from chip to ship to be manufactured in India; for this, we are focusing on your ease of doing business. We are standing with you shoulder-to-shoulder,” he said.
Despite global disruptions, the Prime Minister stressed that India’s growth remains robust, urging a continued focus on Swadeshi products and innovation.
“Nothing can be more helpless than being dependent on others. The more a country stays dependent on others, the more its growth is compromised. Every citizen is adopting Swadeshi, ‘Garv se kaho hum swadeshi hai’, and our traders must proudly adopt this mantra,” he added.
PM Modi also called for creating an ecosystem that encourages Swadeshi designs and private investments in research and innovation, underlining that without innovation, businesses and progress halt.
The five-day trade show, themed “Ultimate Sourcing Begins Here”, aims to promote innovation, integration, and internationalisation, connecting international buyers, domestic B2B buyers, and B2C participants. Over 2,400 exhibitors, 1,25,000 B2B visitors, and 4,50,000 B2C visitors are expected.
UPITS-2025 will showcase Uttar Pradesh’s diverse craft traditions, modern industries, MSMEs, emerging entrepreneurs, and rich art, culture, and cuisine. Russia will participate as a partner country, facilitating bilateral trade, technology exchange, and long-term cooperation.
