Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Saturday with key defence officials, including Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and the chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces. The meeting followed India’s retaliatory strikes on four Pakistani airbases in response to Pakistan’s attack on 26 Indian locations earlier that day.
The briefing came after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh addressed the media about the escalating situation and Pakistan’s provocative actions. Foreign Secretary Misri stated that Pakistan’s actions were being seen as escalating and provocative, adding that India’s response had been measured and responsible.
India also strongly rejected Pakistan’s misinformation campaign, which falsely claimed damage to critical Indian military infrastructure. Wing Commander Singh dismissed these false narratives, including reports of destruction to the S-400 system, airfields at Suratgarh and Sirsa, and artillery positions in various regions, emphasizing that India’s military assets remain intact.
Amidst escalating tensions, Singh highlighted that Pakistan has increased its military activity along the Line of Control (LoC), conducting multiple drone intrusions and shelling with heavy artillery, putting civilian infrastructure at risk.
The meeting reflects India’s commitment to national security while emphasizing a proportionate response to Pakistan’s actions. Meanwhile, heavy shelling and cross-border firing continue to be reported along the Pakistan border, underscoring the ongoing tensions.
