Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday at the highly anticipated Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit in Guwahati. The summit, focused on fostering innovation and sustainable development, brings together national and international leaders to showcase Assam’s vast investment potential.

The Prime Minister arrived in Assam a day before the event and explored exhibitions highlighting a wide range of investment opportunities across the state. Union Ministers S Jaishankar, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Pabitra Margherita are attending the summit, while Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will address a session virtually.

Ahead of the event, the Assam Cabinet approved investment proposals worth ₹1.22 lakh crore, with expectations that the total investments will rise further during the two-day summit.

The summit will see the participation of top business leaders like N Chandrasekaran, Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Sajjan Jindal, and international delegations from countries including Australia, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. The state government has also conducted roadshows in major Indian cities and internationally in the UK, UAE, and Southeast Asia to attract investors.

With 20 thematic sessions planned, the summit will serve as a platform for industry experts, government officials, and business leaders to discuss key growth opportunities and policy reforms — including recent amendments in Assam’s biotechnology and textile policies aimed at attracting more investment.
