Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended birthday wishes to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on his birthday and said the Gujarat CM is making commendable efforts to boost the state’s development and empower the youth.
“Best wishes to Gujarat CM Bhupendrabhai Patel on his birthday. He’s making commendable efforts to boost Gujarat’s development and empower the state’s youth. Wishing him a long and healthy life in service of the people,” PM Modi posted on X.
Earlier today, the CM started the day’s activities by offering darshan at Dada Bhagwan Mandir at Adalaj Trimandir.
The Chief Minister paid obeisance at the tomb of Dada Bhagwan, Pujya Neeru in the Trimandir premises, received the blessings, had a darshan of the deities and performed Jalabhishek in the Shiva temple. On the occasion of his birthday, the Chief Minister prayed for the health, well-being and prosperity of the people of the state and the continuous development of the entire state.
Patel was born on July 15, 1962, in Ahmedabad. He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad. He was sworn-in as Gujarat’s 18th Chief Minister on December 12, 2022. He began his political journey as a member in Memnagar municipality and got elected as an MLA from Ghatlodia constituency (Ahmedabad) in the 2017 Gujarat assembly elections.
Patel has extensive experience in administration, having served as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), and Corporator for Thaltej ward from 2010 to 2015.
He began his political career in 1995, when he was appointed as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Memnagar Municipality. He served the municipality for over a decade, becoming Chairman of the local body during 1999-2000 and 2004-2006.
He has also served as the Vice Chairman of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation School Board between 2008 and 2010.
Later on, he served as a corporator from Thaltej ward from 2010 to 2015. During this tenure, he served as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
In 2015, he was appointed as the chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA). In 2017, Patel became a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the first time, by winning the election from the Ghatlodia constituency.
