Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his heartfelt wishes to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Navratri and Hindu Nav Varsha (Nav Samvatsar).

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wished for courage and strength for all during the sacred festival of Shakti-sadhana. “Best wishes to the countrymen on Navratri. May this holy festival of Shakti-sadhana fill everyone’s life with courage, restraint, and strength. Jai Mata Di,” he wrote.

Highlighting the spiritual essence of Navratri, the Prime Minister shared a devotional hymn by renowned classical singer Pandit Jasraj, dedicated to Goddess Durga. “The beginning of Navratri awakens a new zeal of devotion in the worshippers of the mother goddess. This hymn by Pandit Jasraj dedicated to the worship of the mother goddess is going to mesmerize everyone,” he added.

PM Modi also extended his greetings on the occasion of Ugadi, the Telugu and Kannada New Year, celebrated in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. “This is a special festival, associated with hope and vibrancy. I pray that this new year brings joy, prosperity, and success in everyone’s lives. May the spirit of happiness and harmony continue to grow and flourish,” he posted.

Navratri, meaning ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine divine forms, collectively known as Navdurga. It is observed four times a year, with Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri being the most widely celebrated. The festival concludes with Ram Navami, which marks the birth of Lord Ram.

Throughout India, Navratri is celebrated with great devotion, with different regions following unique traditions. The festival includes fasting, prayers, and cultural performances in honor of the goddess.

To mark the celebrations, Akashvani’s Aradhana YouTube Channel has announced a special series from March 30 to April 6, featuring devotional programs from 8 AM to 8 PM. The highlight includes Navratri Bhajans by legendary artists like Anup Jalota, Narinder Chanchal, Jagjit Singh, Hari Om Sharan, Mahendra Kapoor, and Anuradha Paudwal, which will be aired daily from 6 PM to 7 PM.

Additionally, the series Devi Maa Ke Anek Swaroop will narrate inspiring stories about Navratri and will be broadcast from 9 AM to 9:30 AM. The platform will also showcase special features on India’s sacred Shakti Peeths, offering deeper insights into these revered sites.

The Navratri festivities will culminate in a grand live broadcast of Ram Janmotsav from Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya on April 6, between 11:45 AM and 12:15 PM, bringing the spiritual grandeur of the occasion to audiences nationwide.
