Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his condolences following the death of Kameshwar Chaupal, a senior BJP leader and trustee of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of senior BJP leader and trustee of Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Kameshwar Chaupal ji. He was a devoted Ram Bhakt who played a significant role in the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted Chaupal’s contributions to the welfare of underprivileged communities, saying, “Coming from a Dalit background, Kameshwar ji will always be remembered for his dedication to uplifting the deprived sections of society. My deepest condolences to his family and supporters during this difficult time. Om Shanti!”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his sorrow over Chaupal’s passing, calling it “extremely sad.” He described Chaupal as a great Ram devotee, whose life was entirely devoted to religious and social work.
“The loss of Shri Kameshwar Chaupal ji, Central Vice President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, is deeply saddening. He was a great Ram devotee who laid the first stone for the Ram Janmabhoomi temple during the historic foundation ceremony on November 9, 1989. His life was dedicated to both religious and social causes. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant him a place at His lotus feet and give strength to his family to endure this immense loss. Om Peace!” CM Yogi shared on X.
Kameshwar Chaupal was a pivotal figure in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and made history as the first person to lay the foundation stone (Ram Sila) for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya in 1989. He was also the sole Dalit member of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
