In his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to the nation as India enters a vibrant month filled with diverse festivals. Highlighting the country’s unity in diversity, he emphasized how these celebrations reflect the cultural richness of India.

Addressing the nation, PM Modi remarked, “These festivals take place in different parts of the country, but they showcase how unity is woven into India’s diversity. We must continue strengthening this spirit of togetherness.”

He noted that today marks the beginning of Chaitra Navratri and Vikram Samvat, the Indian New Year. He also acknowledged the significance of other regional new year celebrations such as Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Sansar Padwa.

PM Modi read out letters from citizens across states, receiving messages in various languages, symbolizing the linguistic and cultural unity of India.

“These messages come in different languages because New Year is being celebrated in different states. This reflects our shared traditions despite regional variations,” he said.

PM Modi highlighted that India will be celebrating several major festivals in the coming days:

  • Ugadi – Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana
  • Gudi Padwa – Maharashtra
  • Baisakhi Bihu – Assam
  • Poila Baisakh – Bengal
  • Navreh – Jammu & Kashmir
  • Eid celebrations will also take place later this month

“From April 13-15, grand celebrations will be held across the country, bringing joy and enthusiasm,” he added.

Switching focus to students, PM Modi reflected on his childhood, recalling how he balanced fun and learning during summer vacations.

“Summer days are long, and children have ample opportunities to engage in new hobbies and learn new skills,” he said.

He encouraged students to participate in science, technology, drama, and art programs being organized nationwide.

“There are many technology camps where children can learn about app development and open-source software. Speech and drama schools can also be beneficial, along with volunteer activities that instill a sense of service,” he suggested.

PM Modi urged students to share their summer learning experiences using the hashtag #MyHolidays and announced a special calendar—‘MY-Bharat’, designed to help students make their summer vacations more productive.

As the nation steps into a period of festivities and celebrations, the Prime Minister’s address reinforced the spirit of cultural harmony, learning, and national unity.
