Pakistani Intruder Shot Dead by BSF in Ferozepur Amid Ongoing Border Tensions

In a heightened security operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) neutralised a Pakistani intruder attempting to cross the International Border in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector during the intervening night of May 7–8, sources said on Thursday.

According to officials, the unidentified individual was spotted moving toward the border fence under the cover of darkness. Despite repeated warnings from BSF troops, the intruder continued advancing, prompting the personnel to open fire. His body was recovered at dawn and handed over to local police for further investigation.

The incident comes at a time of escalating hostilities along the India-Pakistan border, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, following India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ — a series of precision strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

In the aftermath of the strikes, Pakistan has ramped up ceasefire violations, targeting civilian areas with small arms and artillery fire. The External Affairs Ministry reported that 13 civilians were killed and 59 injured, with 44 casualties in Poonch district alone, as Pakistani shelling caused widespread panic and property damage.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has been responding proportionately to Pakistan’s unprovoked aggression along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor sectors, officials confirmed.

With tensions mounting, border forces remain on high alert amid continuing provocations from across the border.
