In the wake of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, and left several injured, security forces and Jammu and Kashmir authorities have intensified their crackdown on terrorist suspects. On Sunday, they demolished the house of a suspect linked to the April 22 attack in Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir.
The house, believed to belong to a terrorist involved in the attack, was destroyed as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks in the region. This follows the demolition of another suspect’s house in Chotipora village, Shopian district, and the house of Zakir Ahmad Ganie in Mutalhama village, Kulgam district. Ganie, active in terror activities since 2023, is suspected of involvement in the Pahalgam assault.
Earlier, on Friday, the house of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, was demolished. Guree, from Guree village in Bijbehara block, is believed to be connected to the Pahalgam attack. He has been declared a most-wanted terrorist, with a reward of Rs 20 lakh offered for any information leading to his arrest. Two Pakistani nationals have also been named as wanted in connection to the attack.
Meanwhile, in a separate encounter in Bandipora district, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist associate, Altaf Lalli, was killed by security forces. Two police officers were injured during the exchange of fire and are reported to be in stable condition.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which targeted tourists at Baisaran meadow, has ignited national outrage, prompting widespread protests and calls for tougher action against Pakistan. The Indian Army has heightened security and launched extensive search operations in the aftermath of the attack.
