Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marked the sacred occasion of Guru Purnima by offering prayers at the Gorakhnath Mandir in Gorakhpur on Thursday. He paid homage to his spiritual guides, including his Gurudev, Dadaguru, the late Mahant Digvijaynath, and other revered gurus of the Nath sect.
In a post on X, CM Yogi expressed reverence for the role of gurus in spiritual awakening, stating: “By the grace of the Guru, the disciple progresses from ignorance to self-realisation, from darkness to light… We honour the great Gurus who shape the disciple’s personality with values, service, and truth.”
The Guru Purnima rituals at Gorakhnath Temple began in the early morning, with devotees gathering in large numbers to offer their prayers and seek blessings.
Across the state, the occasion was celebrated with deep devotion. In Prayagraj, scores of devotees took a holy dip at the Sangam Ghat, offering prayers and participating in religious rituals to mark the day.
Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, is a sacred festival observed by Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains across India and other parts of South Asia. It commemorates the birth of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the sage credited with compiling the Vedas and authoring the Mahabharata, who is revered as the Adi Guru (original teacher).
