Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday strongly condemned the use of abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a political rally in Darbhanga, calling it “extremely unbecoming.”

“The use of indecent language against the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and his late mother from the Congress and RJD platforms during the Voter Rights Yatra in Darbhanga is extremely unbecoming, and I condemn it,” Kumar said in a social media post.

The controversy erupted after a video surfaced in which a man allegedly hurled abuses from the opposition stage. The accused has since been arrested by Darbhanga Police, confirmed the city’s Senior Superintendent of Police.

The remarks have triggered sharp political reactions. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the INDIA bloc leaders, saying such comments insulted 140 crore Indians. “The Prime Minister is the world’s most popular leader now. This undignified language from the INDIA bloc platform is unacceptable. The people of Bihar will give them a befitting reply,” he said, demanding an apology from Congress and RJD.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also criticised the opposition, calling the remarks an “insult to all women of the country.” He accused the INDIA bloc of propagating an ideology that “never existed in Indian democracy.”

Meanwhile, BJP leader Krishna Singh Kallu has filed a complaint against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, seeking a halt to the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in poll-bound Bihar.

In response, the opposition hit back at the BJP, accusing it of “raising irrelevant issues to distract from real concerns.”
