The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has ramped up its investigation into the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that took place on April 22, 2025. Since April 23, NIA teams, led by senior officers including an IG, DIG, and SP, have been meticulously questioning eyewitnesses who were present at the scene of the attack. The assault, which occurred around 2 pm at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, claimed the lives of 26 people, including a Nepali citizen, and left over three dozen others injured.

In a statement, the NIA detailed its investigative efforts, focusing on gathering precise accounts from eyewitnesses to reconstruct the events of the attack. These individuals are being questioned in minute detail to piece together the timeline of the incident. The NIA is also closely examining the entry and exit points around the attack site to uncover crucial information regarding the terrorists’ modus operandi.

The investigation has been further bolstered by forensic and other experts who are conducting an exhaustive search of the area to collect evidence that could reveal the full scope of the conspiracy behind the tragic attack. The NIA’s comprehensive probe aims to identify the perpetrators and their support network.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army remains on high alert, conducting several search operations aimed at neutralizing the terrorists involved in the attack. The incident has led to widespread outrage across the nation, with protests demanding stronger actions against Pakistan, which is suspected to be linked to the attack. In response, the Indian government has taken swift diplomatic action, suspending the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, downgrading bilateral ties, and shutting down the Attari checkpost as part of its retaliation against the brazen attack.
