Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, will introduce the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The bill is aimed at overhauling India’s sports administration by establishing a legal framework rooted in good governance, ethical practices, and athlete welfare.
As per the official agenda, the bill will be presented alongside the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which Mandaviya will also move for consideration. The proposed legislation seeks to ensure fair play and accountability in sports through alignment with the Olympic Charter, Paralympic Charter, and global standards.
The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, is designed to promote sports development, ensure ethical conduct, support sportspersons’ welfare, and introduce a unified mechanism for grievance redressal and dispute resolution in the sporting domain.
In other key parliamentary business for the day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will move a resolution to amend the Second Schedule of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, aligning it with changes introduced in the First Schedule under the Finance Act, 2025.
The day’s proceedings will begin at 11 AM with the Question Hour. Several Union Ministers including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Jayant Chaudhary, and Pankaj Chaudhary will table official papers.
Additionally, MPs Shrirang Barne and Devusinh Chauhan will present standing committee reports on government action regarding the Ministries of Power and New and Renewable Energy. MPs Bhartruhari Mahtab and K Sudhakar will table reports from the finance committee, while Anurag Thakur and Ananta Nayak will present the Eighth Report on the Steel Scrap Recycling Policy under the Ministry of Steel.
