West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Saturday continued his visit to violence-hit areas of Murshidabad, stating he would meet more affected families and assess the situation firsthand.

“This is an extension of yesterday’s visit. I will visit more places today and meet the affected people,” Governor Bose told ANI. On Friday, he had visited a relief camp in Par Lalpur, Malda, where he listened to grievances and assured prompt action to support the displaced.

Meanwhile, National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar and NCW member Archana Majumdar also visited the region. Rahatkar expressed deep sorrow after meeting the family of a father-son duo killed during the violence on April 11. “These people are in so much pain that I am speechless,” she said.

Archana Majumdar called the situation horrific, stating, “Some women lost their husbands, some their sons. People were dragged from their homes and butchered. This is unacceptable. The government must take responsibility.”

The unrest, which erupted during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act, claimed three lives, injured several others, and caused widespread property damage. Dozens of families have been displaced — some seeking refuge in relief camps in Malda, others fleeing to Jharkhand’s Pakur district.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with calls for accountability and justice mounting from both state and national leaders.
