Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, was brought to Ganesh Das Hospital in Shillong early Wednesday morning for a medical examination while under a three-day transit remand with Meghalaya Police.

The development follows Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong’s confirmation that all four accused in the high-profile murder case were being brought to Shillong. “We have got the transit remand. If not tonight, then by tomorrow, all of them will be in Shillong. Once they arrive, they will be produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court,” he stated on Tuesday.

Sonam Raghuvanshi, along with co-accused Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand, is alleged to have conspired in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, who had recently married and was on his honeymoon in Meghalaya.

Raja’s body was discovered on June 2 in a deep gorge in Sohra, near Cherrapunji. Sonam was later found alone near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway.

Deputy CM Tynsong revealed that several of the accused had confessed to their involvement. “Some of them were arrested from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. A Meghalaya Police SIT travelled to these locations for the arrests. During interrogation, it became clear that Sonam, the wife, was fully involved in the planning and execution of the crime during their stay in Meghalaya,” he said.

In a dramatic incident during the accused’s transfer, a bystander named Sushil Lakwani attempted to physically attack one of the suspects at Indore airport. Lakwani, visibly agitated, told reporters, “I hit him because a resident of Indore was murdered. They should be hanged. The woman killed the man with full planning.”

Shillong Police swiftly intervened to control the situation and safely escorted the accused inside the airport.

The case has drawn significant public and media attention, with many calling for swift and stern punishment for the accused.
