The mother of Raj Singh Kushwaha, one of the five accused in the high-profile Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, has claimed that her son is innocent and being falsely implicated. Speaking to ANI, she emotionally appealed for help, insisting that her son “could never do something like this.”

“My son is very young. After my husband passed away in 2020, he took care of his three sisters and started working at Govind’s office,” she said, referring to Sonam Raghuvanshi’s brother. “He has always looked after our family. I don’t know anything about any relationship between Sonam and my son. Please save him. I can’t even go to Meghalaya—I have no one to take me,” she added tearfully.

Meanwhile, Raj Singh Kushwaha, along with co-accused Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Anand, and the victim’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi — the prime suspect — were brought to Shillong on Wednesday by Meghalaya Police after securing a seven-day transit remand for the four male accused and a three-day remand for Sonam.

The group is accused of murdering Raja Raghuvanshi, who had recently married and was on his honeymoon in Meghalaya. His body was found in a gorge near Sohra (Cherrapunji) on June 2. Sonam was later discovered near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway in Uttar Pradesh.

The accused are being held at Shillong Sadar Police Station. Medical examinations were conducted at Ganesh Das Hospital and Civil Line Hospital before they are presented in court.

As the investigation continues, public attention and emotional pleas from families have intensified the spotlight on the case.
