Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has seen an unprecedented outpouring of devotion, with around 400 million devotees taking the sacred dip at Triveni Sangam – the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. The event, which began on January 13, 2025, is drawing millions of pilgrims and is set to continue until February 26, setting new attendance records.
As of Saturday, approximately 400 million devotees have participated in the holy dip, according to officials. The event has attracted devotees from around the globe, including several prominent political leaders. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were among those who took part in the sacred Kumbh Snan.
Rajasthan’s Deputy CM, Diya Kumari, praised the initiative, highlighting it as an important opportunity for the state cabinet and MLAs to come together and offer prayers for the nation’s well-being. “On the initiative of the CM, all the cabinet members and MLAs are attending the Maha Kumbh. It’s a wonderful initiative, and I thank him for that,” Kumari said.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, accompanied by his council of ministers and top bureaucrats, visited Prayagraj on Saturday to take part in the holy dip at the Sangam. Rajasthan Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham congratulated the CM for his efforts in preserving cultural heritage and confirmed that the Rajasthan government would hold a cabinet meeting during their visit to Prayagraj.
“Under the leadership of CM Sharma, we will hold a cabinet meeting at the Maha Kumbh, where we will make important decisions. I commend him for his dedication to conserving our cultural heritage,” Bedham stated.
Rajasthan Deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa also expressed that the ministers would pray for the happiness of the entire country at the Mahakumbh. “We, the MLAs, are going to Prayagraj for the holy dip and will pray for the prosperity and happiness of the entire nation,” he told ANI.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held at the revered Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, draws millions of pilgrims from India and abroad for the sacred Kumbh Snan, a key ritual in the event.
On the previous day, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also took the holy dip at the Sangam as part of the ongoing festivities.
The Mahakumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13), stands as the largest spiritual and cultural gathering in the world. The event, which is expected to set new records for participation, will conclude on Mahashivratri, February 26, 2025.
