“Living Form of Our Eternal Culture and Faith”: CM Yogi Lauds Devotees Participating in Maha Kumbh’s First ‘Amrit Snan’

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday extended warm congratulations to devotees taking part in the first ‘Amrit Snan’ at the Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj.

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister described the sacred event as a profound reflection of India’s timeless culture and spiritual legacy.
“This is the living form of our eternal culture and faith. Today, on the auspicious occasion of the great festival of folk faith ‘Makar Sankranti’, congratulations to all the devotees who earned virtue by taking the first ‘Amrit Snan’ at the Triveni Sangam in Mahakumbh-2025, Prayagraj!” he said.

Earlier, CM Yogi also extended his wishes to the people of Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, stating: “Heartiest congratulations to the people of the state, all revered saints, devotees, and followers on Makar Sankranti! This is a festival to express gratitude to the Sun God, the father of the universe.”

The sacred Amrit Snan saw Sadhus from the 13 akhadas of Sanatan Dharma take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers. These 13 akhadas are categorized into three groups: Sanyasi (Shaivite), Bairagi (Vaishnav), and Udaseen.

The Shaivite akhadas participating in the event include:

  • Shree Panch Dashnam Juna Akhada
  • Shree Panchayati Akhada Niranjani
  • Shree Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhada
  • Shree Panchayati Akhada Mahanirvani
  • Shree Shambhu Panchagni Akhada
  • Shree Panchdashnam Aavahan Akhada
  • Taponidhi Shri Anand Akhada Panchayti

As thousands of pilgrims arrived at the Maha Kumbh on Makar Sankranti, Kumar Swami Ji Maharaj of Anand Akhara shared his reflections:
“Nothing is bigger than this (Maha Kumbh). Those who are able to come here are extremely fortunate. Wherever we see, people are fighting among themselves. Here, it’s peaceful. Just being present and witnessing this divine congregation brings joy and serenity. Our saints and scriptures have always prayed for world peace. I bow to our great seers, religious texts, our Earth, and Lord Shiva for giving us this day. Everyone should experience this.”

The ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025 will continue until February 26, 2025, with key Shahi Snan dates including:

  • January 14: Makar Sankranti (First Shahi Snan)
  • January 29: Mauni Amavasya (Second Shahi Snan)
  • February 3: Basant Panchami (Third Shahi Snan)
  • February 12: Maghi Purnima
  • February 26: Maha Shivaratri

This grand spiritual event stands as a beacon of peace, unity, and devotion, drawing millions of devotees from across the globe.
