Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday dismissed the idea that the Delhi election results would influence the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stands no chance of forming a government in the state.

Speaking to the media, Yadav stated that the people of Bihar have already recognized the BJP and that their chances of success in the state are slim. “There will be no impact. How can they form the government? Can the BJP form the government while we are here? The people have now recognized the BJP,” Yadav remarked.

The Delhi elections saw the BJP securing 48 seats, marking a historic victory and returning to power in the national capital after 27 years. This result ended over 10 years of rule by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which won only 22 seats, down from 62 in the 2020 assembly polls. Meanwhile, the Congress failed to secure a single seat for the third consecutive time.

Despite this, several leaders from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have expressed confidence that they will perform even better in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled later this year. Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha stated on Monday that Bihar is benefiting from the work of the “double-engine government,” and predicted that the NDA would perform strongly in the state polls, surpassing their success in Delhi.

Sanjay Jha emphasized the leadership of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, noting that his tenure over the past 20 years has helped people better understand the state’s needs and development.

BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also expressed confidence, stating that after their success in Delhi, the NDA would form a strong government in Bihar under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The current Bihar government is working very well. In the last 10 years, the people have given the BJP a second chance in multiple states. We will form a strong government in Bihar too,” Khandelwal said.

Recently, around 30 Bihar MPs from BJP, JD(U), and other NDA parties met with Prime Minister Modi in Parliament, further fueling speculation about the NDA’s prospects in the upcoming polls.

In contrast, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, when asked whether the Delhi results would impact Bihar’s elections, firmly stated, “Bihar is Bihar – they (BJP) will have to understand this.”
