BRS MLC K Kavitha on Thursday slammed Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for not visiting the site of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse, where several workers, including one or two engineers, remain trapped. She called on the CM to take charge of the ongoing rescue operations and treat the situation with the seriousness it demands.
Speaking to ANI, Kavitha expressed her frustration over the CM’s absence from the site. “It’s an unfortunate incident, but it’s even more unfortunate that the Chief Minister of Telangana has not yet visited the site. He is not on top of things. We demand that he immediately visit and take control of the rescue operations,” she said.
Rescue efforts are being led by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), with expert miners from Uttarkashi also assisting in the mission. Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy provided an update on the situation, explaining that a structured plan had been put in place to accelerate the operations while ensuring the safety of rescuers.
“Yesterday and today, we assessed the risks involved for the rescue teams. Now, we have a concrete plan of action and will move faster to save the survivors. We expect to complete the operations within two days,” Reddy stated.
The government is exploring multiple entry points to reach those trapped, taking additional precautions to mitigate risk. Expert miner Munna Qureshi, part of the team that rescued 41 workers in Uttarkashi, acknowledged the difficulties but remained confident.
“There are challenges, but we’ll solve the problem and deliver results. This is a serious situation, and we are fully committed to rescuing all the workers,” Qureshi said.
Rescue teams continue their relentless efforts to bring the trapped workers to safety as the nation watches closely.
