The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday strongly condemned the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam and passed a resolution expressing solidarity with the victims and their families. The resolution, introduced by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary during a special session, emphasized the attack as an assault on the values of “Kashmiriyat,” the Indian Constitution, and the spirit of unity and harmony in the region.

The resolution condemned the heinous act, which led to the tragic loss of 26 lives, and extended condolences to the victims’ families. Assembly members also observed a two-minute silence in memory of those killed in the attack.

The resolution document stated, “This House expresses its profound shock and anguish at the barbaric and inhumane attack perpetrated on innocent civilians at Pahalgam. This House unequivocally condemns the heinous, cowardly act that resulted in the loss of innocent lives.”

A key part of the resolution highlighted the bravery of Shaheed Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who sacrificed his life in an attempt to save tourists during the attack. The resolution praised his courage, calling it a symbol of the true spirit of Kashmir and an inspiration for future generations.

Furthermore, the resolution acknowledged the unity and resilience shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of the attack. It also endorsed the Union Government’s diplomatic measures announced on April 23, 2025, following a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting, aimed at addressing cross-border terrorism.

The Assembly’s resolution reaffirmed the region’s commitment to peace, unity, and the shared values of the nation, as well as the government’s strong stance against terrorism.
