External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with an all-party parliamentary delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha in Delhi on Thursday. The delegation had recently concluded a diplomatic outreach tour of Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia as part of India’s unified effort to build global support against cross-border terrorism.

Sharing a photo from the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), Jaishankar wrote, “Nice to meet with the All Party Delegation led by @SanjayJhaBihar that visited Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.”

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sanjay Jha said, “We shared detailed feedback about our interactions during the five-nation visit. We highlighted how India has been a victim of cross-border terrorism for over four decades and explained the current security situation with facts.”

The delegation was formed under Operation Sindoor, an initiative launched by India in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The aim of the tour was to engage regional partners in Asia and build international solidarity against terrorism emanating from across India’s borders.

The bipartisan group included MPs from a spectrum of political parties: BJP’s Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, Hemang Joshi; TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee; CPI(M)’s John Brittas; and Congress leader Salman Khurshid — reflecting a rare display of political unity on the issue of national security.

Congress MP Salman Khurshid remarked that the External Affairs Minister was already well briefed by Indian envoys abroad and was aware of the delegation’s engagements and the issues raised in each country.

Khurshid also noted the need for balanced bilateral parliamentary exchanges, highlighting that many nations have friendship associations with India, but reciprocal efforts from the Indian side are lacking. “The Minister acknowledged this concern and assured us that the matter would be looked into,” he said.

As the delegation continues its consultations back home, their visit stands as a testament to India’s evolving strategy of using parliamentary diplomacy to counter terrorism narratives and foster deeper ties with strategically important countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
