After performing the sacred Amrit Snan at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers meet, Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya expressed his joy for being the first among all Acharyas to take the holy dip. He also praised the Uttar Pradesh government for the excellent arrangements made for the massive event.
“I am extremely happy as I was the first one to take the holy dip among all the Acharyas. I am deeply impressed with the state government’s arrangements. They have successfully managed such a huge crowd here,” said Swami Rambhadracharya.
Amid chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’, ‘Jai Shri Ram’, and ‘Jai Ganga Maiyya’, the revered Swami was accompanied by thousands of devotees and his disciples in the holy ritual.
Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, a former Union Minister and member of the Niranjani Akhara, reflected on the unique atmosphere at this year’s Kumbh Mela. “I have been attending the Kumbh since 1982, and this time, the experience feels very different. A new city has been set up, and we are fortunate to be part of this once-in-144-years celebration. It’s wonderful to see so many youth present here,” she shared.
Swami Chidanand Saraswati, the spiritual head of Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh, expressed his prayers for the well-being of all. “This Makar Sankranti saw the snan of not just those here, but of the entire Sanatan Dharma. This Kumbh is a celebration of the immortality of our faith. It has demonstrated that everyone is united in spirit. I invite everyone to come to the Kumbh. I pray for the well-being of all Indians and the world,” he said, also praising Prime Minister Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath for their efforts in spreading yoga’s essence.
Jaya Kishori, a renowned spiritual orator, shared her joy at the sight of so many devotees. “The energy here is unique. Despite the cold weather, seeing so many people gathered in one place creates an energy that is truly special. This is an experience filled with peace, knowledge, spirituality, and culture. Prayagraj is witnessing an amazing blend of all these elements,” she said.
Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati expressed that the power of Sanatan Dharma transcends all boundaries, regardless of one’s country of origin. “On Makar Sankranti, as I took the holy dip in Sangam, I reflected on what I did right in my past lives to have earned this chance in this life. I consider myself very fortunate. Today, we are bathing in the holy waters with millions of people, feeling the collective power of Sanatan Dharma. There is a solution to every problem in the sacred dip of Sangam,” she said.
Meanwhile, Amrit Abhijat, Uttar Pradesh’s Principal Secretary for Urban Development, reported that over 20 million devotees have taken the Amrit Snan so far. “As of now, around 2 crore people have taken the dip. By evening, we expect the number to exceed 2.5 crore,” he shared.
