IndiGo Airlines has cancelled all flight operations to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot for Tuesday, citing security concerns and prioritizing passenger safety.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, IndiGo announced, “In light of the latest developments and with your safety as our utmost priority, flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot are cancelled for 13th May 2025.”
The airline expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers and assured that its teams are closely monitoring the situation. IndiGo advised travelers to check their flight status on the airline’s official website or mobile app before heading to the airport. “If you need assistance, we’re just a message or call away and forever ready to help,” the statement added.
The announcement follows shortly after IndiGo had issued an advisory indicating that it would gradually resume services to routes previously affected by airspace restrictions. “In line with the latest government directives, the airports are open for operations. We will progressively commence operations on the previously closed routes,” IndiGo had said earlier.
This development comes a day after the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced the reopening of 32 airports across northern and western India. These airports had been temporarily closed due to the escalating military conflict between India and Pakistan. The closure was initially expected to continue until May 15 but is now being lifted in phases.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army confirmed that no enemy drones are currently present in Indian airspace and that the situation is “calm and completely under full control.”
However, late-night reports from the Samba sector in Jammu and Kashmir indicated air defence activity as Pakistani drones were intercepted. Red streaks were observed in the sky and explosions heard as air defence systems engaged the targets. Army sources stated that only a small number of drones entered the area and were effectively neutralized. “There is nothing to be alarmed about,” the sources added.
Passengers traveling to or from the affected regions are advised to stay updated through official airline channels as the situation continues to evolve.
