Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil on Thursday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for India’s economic transformation and inclusive development over the past 11 years, stating that “every section of society received something meaningful.”

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Patil highlighted India’s leap from the world’s 11th largest economy in 2014 to the 5th today, with aspirations to soon become the 4th largest. He cited achievements ranging from Chandrayaan’s success to direct benefit schemes for farmers as proof of broad-based progress.

“In 2014, India’s economy was ranked 11th. Today, we are 5th and moving towards 4th. This kind of progress was unimaginable. Whether it’s youth, women, or farmers, every section of society has gained something significant under this government,” Patil said.

Focusing on the welfare of farmers, Patil said that for the first time, ₹6,000 is directly transferred annually to their bank accounts without any application process — a move he called unprecedented respect for the nation’s Annadatas (food providers).

On national security, Patil referred to India’s tough stance on terrorism: “In places like Pahalgam, we’ve sent a clear message to Pakistan and terrorists — India will not tolerate threats. Everyone knows about the surgical strikes and bold decisions taken by the government.”

Discussing his ministry’s initiatives, Patil shared updates on the Jal Jeevan Mission, noting that ₹501 crore has been allocated for water conservation and infrastructure projects. He also highlighted public participation in building 35 water restoration structures in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.

Responding to Pakistani leader Bilawal Bhutto’s remarks on the Indus Waters Treaty, Patil said firmly: “We are not afraid of such threats. ‘Hum gidar bhabkiyon se nahi darte’ (We are not intimidated by hollow threats).”

He added that decisions on the Sindhu water treaty will be made by the Government of India keeping national interest in mind.

Patil concluded by reinforcing that inclusivity, bold governance, and people-centric policies have defined the Modi government’s 11-year journey, transforming both India’s economic stature and social welfare landscape.
