The Indian Army effectively responded to unprovoked firing by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) during the night of April 26-27 in areas opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Tensions remain high across the LoC, with security forces ramping up anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly of tourists, on April 22.

In a statement, the Indian Army said, “On the night of 26-27 April 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the Line of Control in areas opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors. Own troops responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire.”

Meanwhile, in a coordinated operation, Kulgam Police, along with the Indian Army and the CRPF, arrested two terror associates and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

During a routine checkpoint at Matalhama Chowk Thokerpora, Qaimoh, two individuals were intercepted and arrested. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Mohd Ismail Bhat, both residents of Thokerpora, Qaimoh. Upon search, security forces seized two pistols, two pistol magazines, and 25 rounds of pistol ammunition from their possession. A case has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh, and investigations are underway.

In a separate development, security forces, along with Jammu and Kashmir authorities, demolished the house of Zakir Ahmad Ganie, a suspect linked to the Pahalgam terror attack. Ganie, a resident of Mutalhama village in Kulgam district, has reportedly been active in militant activities since 2023.

Security measures continue to be intensified across the region as authorities crack down on terror networks in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
