In a series of coordinated intelligence-based operations, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, in collaboration with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and war-like stores while destroying bunkers across multiple districts in Manipur.
The operations, launched on March 7, covered the districts of Bishnupur, Senapati, Thoubal, Jiribam, Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Imphal East, and Imphal West. Security forces recovered a total of 114 weapons, along with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), grenades, and various types of ammunition.
In Bishnupur district, a joint operation between the Indian Army and Manipur Police in the Grove area southwest of Nepali Basti led to the recovery of seven weapons, including two carbines, two pistols, two rifles, one improvised mortar, and other war-like supplies.
Chandel district saw the most substantial haul with 55 weapons seized, comprising nine 12-bore single-barrel rifles, twelve muzzle-loaded rifles, one 12mm single-bore shotgun, one single-barrel rifle, 32 improvised mortars of varying calibers, four IEDs, grenades, and ammunition.
In Senapati district, the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered four weapons, including two bolt-action single-barrel guns, one double-barrel gun, and one 12-bore single-barrel rifle, during a joint operation in the Taphou Kuki area.
Churachandpur district saw 15 weapons recovered in a joint intelligence-based operation in the Gothol area, northwest of Kangvai.
In Jiribam district, security forces recovered nine improvised mortars (Pompi) in Ankhasu village. Meanwhile, operations in Imphal East, specifically in Pourabi, Sawombung, and Kalika areas, resulted in the seizure of six weapons.
Kangpokpi district witnessed the destruction of 12 bunkers and the recovery of four weapons during a Cordon and Search Operation in Khengang village, 12 km north of Leimakhong.
In Thoubal district, a joint operation in Langmeithek Yerum Ching and Langathel led to the recovery of eight weapons along with ammunition and war-like stores.
Lastly, in Imphal West, an operation in Moidangpok Khullen, southeast of New Keithelmanbi, resulted in the seizure of six weapons.
These operations reflect the commitment of the Indian Army and allied security forces to maintaining peace and stability in Manipur by neutralizing armed threats and dismantling insurgent infrastructure.
