Amid escalating hostilities along the Line of Control and International Border, Indian Armed Forces activated surface-to-air missile systems in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar region on Saturday, as heavy aerial and ground engagements with Pakistan continue.

According to sources cited by ANI, Indian forces have launched retaliatory strikes targeting at least four Pakistani airbases. These actions follow Pakistan’s drone-led assault on 26 Indian locations, prompting a swift and robust response from New Delhi.

In the midst of ongoing cross-border exchanges, plumes of smoke were seen rising from the Dibber area of Udhampur after a loud explosion, while residential property was reported damaged in Rajouri due to a series of blasts. Loud explosions were also heard in the Rajouri and Akhnoor regions, further highlighting the intensity of the situation.

The Ministry of Defence earlier confirmed the presence of drones at 26 sensitive locations along the International Border and LoC, including Baramulla, Srinagar, Nagrota, Jammu, Pathankot, Ferozpur, and Bhuj. Some of these drones were suspected to be armed. One attack in Punjab’s Ferozpur injured members of a local family, prompting immediate medical aid and security measures.

Indian Armed Forces remain on high alert, actively tracking and neutralising aerial threats with counter-drone systems. The situation is under continuous surveillance, and security personnel are taking prompt action as needed.

Citizens, particularly in border areas, have been urged to remain indoors, minimise movement, and follow safety protocols. Officials have called for calm, stressing that while there is no cause for panic, heightened vigilance is crucial.

This latest flare-up follows the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, which led to India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
