A hospital technician in Gurugram has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 46-year-old air hostess while she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital, police said on Friday.

The survivor, who was in the city for professional training, had been admitted to the hospital after experiencing health complications from a drowning incident. The alleged assault occurred while she was on ventilator support in the ICU.

The complaint was filed on April 14, nearly a week after the incident, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Sadar Police Station. Gurugram Deputy Commissioner of Police Arpit Jain confirmed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter.

“Based on the complaint received on April 14, an SIT was constituted. The accused, identified as Deepak, a resident of Muzaffarpur, has been arrested. He had been employed as a technician at the hospital for the past five months,” DCP Jain said.

Following the arrest, the hospital administration suspended the accused. In a statement issued on Friday, the medical superintendent of the hospital said, “We have been informed that the police have taken a suspect into custody in connection with the investigation. Based on the information provided, the employee has been suspended.”

The hospital added that it is fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation. Further inquiries are underway.
