The vibrant festival of Holi has begun across India, with people gathering to celebrate with colors, music, and traditional customs. From temples to streets, the air is filled with vibrant hues as the nation comes together to mark the arrival of this joyous festival, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
In several regions, the celebrations commenced with the Holika Dahan, a ritual bonfire representing the victory of devotion and righteousness. Iconic locations like Mathura and Vrindavan, renowned for their grand Holi festivities, saw devotees participating in traditional rituals, including the famous Lathmar Holi.
Cities such as Varanasi, Jaipur, and Delhi were alive with the spirit of Holi, with crowds joyfully smearing each other with colors and indulging in festive treats like gujiya and thandai. Authorities have ensured smooth celebrations by deploying security personnel in major cities to maintain order.
In Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, Holi celebrations at Shri Lakshminath Ji temple were marked with prayers, bhajans, and the application of colors. Local residents, led by Chaitanya Raj Singh Bhati, celebrated the ‘Phaagotsav’ at the temple.
The Border Security Force (BSF) also joined in the celebrations along the Indo-Pak border, with personnel applying colors, sharing sweets, and dancing to the beat of festive music. BSF Deputy Commandant Pratap Singh emphasized the force’s dedication and sacrifice in serving the nation, even as they joined their fellow soldiers in the holiday spirit.
Meanwhile, celebrations in Uttar Pradesh continued at Shri Priyakant Ju temple in Vrindavan, and in Sambhal, locals gathered at the Shiv Hanuman temple to sing and play Holi. Tight security measures were implemented to ensure peace during the celebrations.
In Hyderabad, the excitement was palpable as people flocked to markets to purchase colors, pichkaris, and festive decorations. Sellers reported a rush of customers eager to prepare for the celebrations, marking the holiday with enthusiasm.
With homes adorned in festive colors and kitchens filled with the smell of sweets, Holi festivities have taken over the country, as people embrace the joy and togetherness that the festival brings.
