Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has strongly criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government for implementing a garbage cess in Bengaluru, accusing it of draining the people’s resources like leeches.

In a press statement, he declared, “From today, the Congress Company government is imposing a cess even on garbage! It is draining the blood of the people!”

Kumaraswamy accused the state government of deceit and relentless price hikes. “This is the governance style of the Karnataka East India Congress Company government! Every day, they deceive the people, and every month, they increase prices,” he said.

He alleged that the government is using its so-called five guarantees as a cover for financial exploitation. “The real motive behind these guarantees is not public welfare but systematic looting. Even Mahmud of Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori, who repeatedly invaded and looted India, would be ashamed of the Congress government’s aggressive price hike campaign in Karnataka,” Kumaraswamy asserted.

Sharpening his attack, he claimed that the Congress government has mismanaged the state, turning Karnataka from a prosperous region into an economic disaster. “Now, the government has transformed into a ‘Price Hike Demon,’ bleeding the people dry.”

Listing multiple instances of price increases, he said, “They have raised the costs of water, metro rail, KSRTC bus tickets, milk (three times), electricity, stamp duty, guideline value, excise duty, outpatient fees in government hospitals, post-mortem examination charges, medical certificate fees, lab test charges, professional tax, and even seeds. This is the ‘Price Hike Demon’ Congress government.”

“As if all this wasn’t enough, from April 1, they are imposing a Garbage Cess! Under the pretext of waste management, they have devised a multi-crore looting scheme,” he added.

Kumaraswamy further compared the Congress-led Karnataka government to the British colonial rule, referring to it as the “Karnataka East India Congress” and the “Congress Company Government.”
