“From Mafia Rule to Medical Colleges in Every District”: UP CM Yogi Adityanath Slams SP

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the previous government, stating that under BJP rule, the state has not only eradicated the mafia but also established the ‘One District, One Medical College’ initiative to improve healthcare infrastructure.

Addressing a public gathering in Gorakhpur, CM Yogi remarked, “The state and administration remain the same; only the government has changed. Before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was known for daily riots and lawlessness. Under BJP, it has now become the No. 1 state in terms of growth across all sectors.”

Highlighting the poor governance of past administrations, Adityanath accused the Samajwadi Party (SP) of allowing mafia dominance across the state.

“The previous government had a mafia in every district that extorted people, encroached on land, carried out illegal mining, and even smuggled animals. Their goons were a threat to traders and the safety of daughters. We didn’t just eliminate these mafias—we also built medical colleges in every district,” he said.

Earlier in the day, CM Yogi distributed motorized tricycles to differently-abled persons and visited an exhibition showcasing public welfare schemes of the state and central governments in Gorakhpur.

Marking the 8th anniversary of his government, Adityanath praised the BJP’s governance, emphasizing “service, safety, and good governance” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“Under PM Modi’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh’s double-engine government has completed eight successful years. I thank the 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh for their unwavering support,” he stated at a press conference.

Yogi Adityanath first took charge as Chief Minister in 2017, after BJP won a landslide victory (312 out of 403 seats) despite contesting without a CM face. His government was re-elected in 2022, with BJP securing 255 seats, making him the first Chief Minister in UP’s history to win two consecutive terms.

As Adityanath continues to push forward his development agenda, he remains firm on his stance against lawlessness, corruption, and mafia dominance, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a model state for governance and growth.
